Put
Some
Dash in Your Dart
The
"racetrack" taillamp is the most distinctive
feature of the new 2013 Dart, yet it only came
standard on the Aero and GT models, and as an
available option on some other models.
Yet
you can buy the genuine Mopar part for under
$350 including shipping, and install it in about
five minutes.* Simply open the trunk lid, loosen
the nuts from the old reflector strip,
bolt in the new racetrack reflector
taillamp, plug it into the trunk sockets in your
Dart, and voila!
It
looks exactly the same, except when you turn on
your lights, the 152 LED taillamp glows.
*(longer if you have the lined trunk lid).

The
Dart
is Back in Town
This
owner's kit sent out by dealers to new Dart
owners welcomes them to the Dodge family
(right). The kit includes a welcome booklet
and a "Dart" magnet, both featuring the red
double line Dodge hash mark logo, also known
as Dodge "elite" styling. The only place the
double red lines appear on the Dart is at the
right of the front grille. Many Mopar parts
and accessories are available to complement
this new styling.

What's
the Difference?
Dart
fog lamps are available either in
bright finish (shown) for the ring
around the lamp and the bar across
the bezel (Mopar # 82212953), or
satin finish (Mopar # 82212951).

Don't
Try
This at Home
Fog
lamps come standard on the Dart Rallye. GT, and
Limited. They also rank high on the wanted lists
of Dart SE and SXT owners. Unfortunately, they're
not an easy install. A skilled mechanic would have
no problem, but you'd still have to go to the
dealer to program the computer to know the Dart
has fog lamps.
The fog lamp kit includes two chrome-ringed
fog lamps in black bezels (which replace existing
bezels). You have to lift the car and remove the
engine cover to install them. The kit includes a
fog lamp harness, and a BCM harness for the
computer. There's also a new lamp switch for the
dash which looks exactly like the old one, but
includes a push on/off function for the fog lamps.
An indicator is already built into the Dart
instrument cluster. Tools needed are a trim stick,
pry tool, and socket wrench with 7mm, 8mm, and
10mm sockets.
The instruction manual runs to fourteen pages.
Dealers will probably charge a couple hours labor
to install this kit, but they'll probably start
offering fog lamps as an after-sale upgrade. If
you install it yourself, it will probably be about
$100 for the dealer's mechanic to reprogram the
computer. The dealer also adds the sales code to
the Dart VIN as a "Dealer Installed Option".
Ask your mechanic or dealer before ordering this
kit for a labor cost estimate.
